MOSCOW, Oct 3 (PRIME) -- The pressure in the damaged threads of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 pipelines has stabilized, and Russian gas giant Gazprom is now syphoning off gas from the last thread of the Nord Stream pipe, the company said in a statement on Monday.
“Pressure in the thread A of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline and in both threads of the Nord Stream pipeline has stabilized after the blasts, and gas leaks have stopped,” the company said.
Now Gazprom is working on reducing pressure in the thread B of the Nord Stream 2 by syphoning off the natural gas, which should allow the company to inspect the thread’s integrity and reduce potential environmental risks from possible gas leaks, the company said.
On September 26, pressure drops and gas leaks were detected in a thread of Nord Stream 2 and in both threads of Nord Stream in the Swedish and Danish waters. Germany, Sweden and Denmark did not rule out an attack on the pipelines. Later Reuters reported that Sweden's coast guard discovered a fourth leak on September 27.
